The gentle keeper also makes the food as well. A wonderful lighter fare of steamed Arctic char with potatoes and salad. The fish was perfectly prepared.
Today was election day and thus the restaurant is closing early, as Jon is hosting the results party. Guess I will go for a rainy evening hike and check out the waterfall and lake up top! Something different!

Gullfoss ( I believe it literally means gulley falls, don’t quote me on that though, I still need to look it up. Foss = Falls). Gobsmaking beauty. The water flows between fissures, very large ones!

Somehow I survived this day despite a stuffed up head and sinus, coughing and slight fever. This was 30 mins each way beyond Geysir, which is still 1.5 hours away from my dreams of a hot shower and rest. Part of me disnt want to go…. Mind over matter, one portion of the road journey at a time.

At Kerid Crater, around 5:30p yesterday. My “drowned rat” pic, haha.. But seriously, it captures the highlight of the day. Standing slightly precariously above the 6500 year old volcano crater with driving wind and rain, the sheer beauty of the surroundings and the weather made the blue in the water below glow.
Here, I had just met a Swiss couple on the trail who needed their photo taken and they insisted I needed one taken too :)
