Happy Would-Have-Been 84th Birthday Dad!
Pictured here is him at 34 and appears to have met my mother for the first time here, she was 23 here. My dad brought his camera along and took photos of one another, kind of cute. The next two photos are kind of funny, my mother’s expression and the distance they sat apart. They were introduced and for my mother, it was an arranged marriage. She was told to marry my dad if she wanted to do the family right. Sigh. The times then. Both clueless at love, with abusive parenting that lacked love shown to them. The marriage didn’t last, but they gained two daughters. Lol #1969

This image resonates with how I felt today, being on the inside, looking out into the space of time, of life. I’m sure that my having migraines the last few days has contributed to this feeling as well ?

My apologies for the lack of postings… I’ve been feeling uninspired lately and thus haven’t posted much. I’ve been going through a personal incubation period of sorts which can demand all of my energies till I emerge on the other side, lighter and hopefully more self enlightened. Those of you familiar with Thomas Moore’s writings will understand what I’m talking about

Despite being inside a fog or grey days, you can still find beauty. Such is life. Some days are dark days for our souls, but all we need is to look up and outside to seek beauty, it’s there. I was 6-7 months into grieving for the passing of my father and the ending of my role as a caregiver and champion for his well being, feeling a bit lost. A road trip in a foreign land was exactly what I needed to process and grieve… Everyday was new and different, with many challenges and rewards. There were views that brought me to tears, and others that took my breath way and made me smile. Feeling all the emotion was so healing Solo Road Trip adventure in Iceland 2014

Windswept and ocean eroded… We went for a late afternoon walk today and checked out what the latest stormy weather had done at high tide to Blackie Spit park and beach areas. We were amazed to find extreme high tide line evidence and so many of the long time beached logs had shifted or disappeared, floated away presumably. Even the large one I had photographed only a couple of months ago had shifted a few away. The outer edges of the spit that were moss covered have eroded away, leaving faint clay mud shelves, some with the moss carpet draped over. I’m forever in awe of how nature is shaped by the elements. ❤️ The second photo is of an oyster shell that’s as washed up that had the same worm holes normally found in beach wood. I had no idea they could eat through a shell! Pretty cool

There is an abiding beauty which may be appreciated by those who will see things as they are and who will ask for no reward except to see. ~ Vera Brittain

We had the pleasure to meet up with friends out at Porteau Cove for sunset and campfire, then a cozy dinner inside their camper, then back out under the Starry night to enjoy the campfire before heading home. So worth it, grateful to have like-minded individuals to share these moments with
