The collateral beauty after a big storm… The beautiful calm and a sense of community as everyone comes out to to see the damage and share stories. A bit surreal seeing the gap in what was the longest pier in Canada, now in two segments. I don’t know if whether they will be able to selvage what’s left, it took a good beating with all the boats that were docked at the end by the breakwater, and being that’s it’s 104 years old, might mean structural damage can be greater that it appears to us right now.
Unfortunately the strong winds came right at it, slamming all the broken away boats into the pier. In the third image you can see the wreckages on the beach, quite the mess.

I also checked in on @cruseruser as the crew’s are still quite busy with post-storm calls, downed wires and trees still. I was amazed to see how many people ignored clearly cordoned off area due to live wires and ignored verbal earnings by him and his crew. What is wrong with some folks nowadays? Darwinism? RCMP also had to start ticketing people who ignore barriers blocking access onto the pier, as well as looting the washer up boats

When you feel a slight uncomfortableness and fear in something you want to do, it’s definitely a sign, look for the excitement that comes within your heart, no matter how small it seems. The returns you gain for going through with it, committing to it, multiplies that small excitement you first felt, you grow from that experience and move forward another step towards the dreams and goals you have. Go for it, face the fear, and go get what you want out of life. ?: Northwest Iceland, along route 76 near Hofsós if I recall correctly. Taken in 2014 when I did a solo road trip circling the island of Iceland, a most amazing adventure that belongs to me alone… scary, joyful, reflective, empowering, and humbling

Another year, another @wrfrauxillary annual Boot Drive completed. $2.5k+ and a few bins of non-perishable food donations will go to help those in need through White Rock’s Sources Food Bank. Despite 5 hrs of standing out in the chilly 5C temp, it was all smiles with holiday cheer. Wonderful to witness all who came out to support the WRFR Aux crew’s efforts, from young kids to seniors, all donations big and small were meaningful and wonderful gifts to help others is

This year I began to prepare an online store to share my art photography with everyone (store link in profile). Now I have a way to help fund this side passion of mine, so that I can keep capturing beautiful moments around beautiful British Columbia and globally when I’m not busy with photographing Cherished Moments or Special Events photo sessions with local families. The beacon, ONE WTC beckons as the sun sets behind the clouds, giving a soft pink glow to the city that never sleeps. It looks and feels softer on this visit, the vibe of the city has changed for the better. I hadn’t been back since my first visit in 1994, and of course had to come back to the Empire State Building to see the same vistas, to get the birds eyes view and observe changes. This view had changed of course, post 9/11. .

Meet one of our resident Anna’s hummingbirds, Slash. He’s been visiting our feeder for almost one year now, and he’s quite the feisty little fella, and vocal too. These photos were captured last December when I was first getting to know him, I think he had just become an adult as he was more bold; this year he seems more dominant and even more territorial. In photo 2 you get to see his tiny little feet, sort of like T-rex scrawny arms/hands, lol.
