Havana, Cuba | 2003
Switching things up… Thought it might be nice to share some travel photographs before sharing another batch of wildlife photos. 😉

My first trip to Cuba was in 2003, and found a part of my heart had remained there. I fell in love with the music many years beforehand and once there, everything about the landscape, unique culture, history and people resonated within my soul.
Under communist regime with trade sanctions, the Cuban people had to live with what was available from within, cars and to be creatively patched up and reimagined with misfit parts and pieces. I loved seeing how they created under the challenge. I’ve always felt that creativity is at its best when we are faced with limitations and challenges (limited resources and poverty), being resourceful and extremely mindful of functionality, then form. You can see many examples of this type of creativity in the older automobiles of Cuba. Reuse, recycle, and upcycle at its best!❤️
