Curious water ox. It was a treat to see water oxes greeting us before their work day started. The dawn and sunrise on the misty river was incredible. It still seemed like a dream.❤️ This shot was taken at dawn, just before sunrise.

I had hired a private fixer/guide to get us a early morning sunrise boat ride down the river, before all the tourist ferries were out on the water. Our river trip began at 6:30am

That magical morning, sitting aboard an empty transport vessel going down the Li River 漓江, witnessing the local morning traffic and going ons. Early morning fishermen and local transport were the only vessels out and about with the sun rising, as seen here one small vessel ahead of 7s for scale. These karst mountains were spectacular.

This shot is prior to arriving at a small village near Yangshuo town in Guilin just before 7am.

That light… I’ve always been captivated by the how natural light can shift the ambience of a place. Esp when you add moving clouds, sun, and shade into the mix. It’s ever changing, and fleeting.
This photo is one I took while walking through a small village near Yangshuo in Guilin just before 7am. Our bit docked at this tiny village, and we walked out way in, getting to observe the lives of the locals, and trying their common breakfast foods. I love immersing into other cultures, observing, getting to be curious and learning

It’s as if we live on a giant beignet or doughnut, getting dusted with coats of powdered sugar daily. It began this afternoon with large fluffy floaty flakes and by evening back to fine powdered sugar. When I took @fenleytucker out for his walk at 10pm, the snow level seemed to have gained around 1-3″, depending if the wind blew it away or not. Sculpted snow dunes were spotted as well.
I tend to relate things to food, have you noticed? 🤭 I might just be craving a nice fresh yeast doughnut with a dusting of powdered sugar ❤️🍩🌨️😁

Though he isn’t on this earth anymore, his spirit lives on within those of us remaining. Happy 85th year of memories. ❤️

We finally get a good dumping of snow this morning. I took Fenley out for his second snow outing, this time off-leash at the Blackie Spit Dog Park. His possible Finnish Spitz trait came through loud and clear, excited and focused on rooting out rodents while in the forested area. He actually doesn’t like snow on his walks, but in the forest, he’s a different dog!

He kept leading the expedition to hunt down small rodents, with the little Missy, a Cocker spaniel pup. At one time he had the entire pack of dogs at the park interested in what he was doing. He dug down up to his waist under that log and managed to eat something… I don’t know what. This evening’s poop walk will be interesting

Morning walks through the forest fill my heart 💗 esp when taken with @fenleytucker.

It’s been a difficult couple of weeks as I’ve been doing personal work delving into childhood traumas I’ve experienced. PTSD and depression are occuring in tandem and it is such and uncomfortable place to be. Dark dreary days seem to make it even harder. Thus when we have sunny days, I’ll take time out to get outside and soak up sunshine and nature at the same time, and getting the space to be mindful. And getting to see the sunlight spill through, it speaks to me, as I currently appreciate seeing the light cut through the dark, mimicking life

I got to take @fenleytucker out for his first snow hike on New Year’s day and it was snowing! It was like a snow globe yesterday 🌨️❄️☃️ I’m guessing he never had experienced snow before, being from California and that he made a few bad choices before learning what he shouldn’t do in snowy conditions.
He was a champ and loved it. I did have to portage him on my shoulders when we crossed the frozen lake which had freezing 2 inch thick slush due to the fresh snow in warmer temps. I could tell he didn’t want to walk in it, comparing to how he doesn’t mind walking in water. Luckily he fits over my shoulder and has complete trust in me to carry him that way

This bundle of fur has been my joy 💙

Today I’m having a 100% day off after two days of hosting family, dogs, kids and cooking. My Fen hasn’t had much quality time with me due to all the business, and being that he’s got an introverted personality trait like I do, today is much needed. Quiet quality time together in each other’s company. ❤️
