This morning I went on a whale watching tour. Double suited up here, since it was pouring rain, figured I make sure I would stay extra warm and dry, on top of my own prep. Felt like Ralphie’s little brother in The Christmas Story. Haha… It was entertaining to watch grown men (European ones) trying to reason why they didn’t need the suit, then give in, and I’m sure glad they sis once we headed out to sea. The wind and rain was so biting that tears kept streaming down my face at some points.

I was met with spectacular coastal views, formidable mountains, surreal landscape, low cloud/fog, wanting to kill the Garmin GPS unit, and friendly fellow road travelers..

Morning sunshine finally :) Hope its like this all 450km worth, its a long driving day! Yesterday the clouds were so low that it felt a but ominous and claustrophobic, odd I know, considering the expanse of land here. There was just so much cloud in layers moving down and across the landscape, awesome yet overwhelmingly moody. Now I’ll get to listen to Olafur Arnalds, Another Happy Day album in the opposite weather mood, and compare how it feels. It’s such beautiful music composer by and Icelandic. Some of it was incredibly moving to listen to while driving through such intense contrast of landscape and matching weather.

Gobsmaking beauty. The water flows between fissures, very large ones! Somehow I survived this day despite a stuffed up head and sinus, coughing and slight fever. This was 30 mins each way beyond Geysir, which is still 1.5 hours away from my dreams of a hot shower and rest. Part of me disnt want to go…. Mind over matter, one portion of the road journey at a time.
